This weekend was a weekend of trees. My goal was to decorate the deciduous tree in my front yard, assemble my mini trees and pixel tree.

Big Boy Toys
Today was a rare day where I had a stat holiday but the kids were in school. I decided to take full advantage and get all the lights that were not reachable by ladder on the house.
RGB Light Test
Well it’s been a busy weekend outside. I was well behind on my build schedule with only the white lights around my garage door and upper roof and icicles on the upper roof complete. Continue reading “RGB Light Test”
Back to Sequencing
After spending a bit of time messing with my new hardware and starting to spend the weekends putting up lights, I need to get back to converting my sequences to my new layout.
Christmas Presents
Well it finally happened, my RGB lights from Light-O-Rama arrived. Continue reading “Christmas Presents”
Upgrades, Power Savings & New Bits
As I mentioned in a prior post I’m concerned around my Power draw and don’t want to upgrade my electrical panel this year if I can avoid it. Continue reading “Upgrades, Power Savings & New Bits”
2017 Simulations
I’ve been working hard to convert my sequences from last years layout (all LED) to incorporate the RGBs I have ordered. I also changed most of the features such as my main spruce tree and small secondary tree. There are many changes in the overall layout where only about 3 channels are the same as last year. I also upgraded from LOR s4 to s5 because the pixel effects are much simpler. I thought I would share a few of the simulations of how the show should look based on the preview in S5. Accessorizing
As I am adding more lights this year I had a couple of concerns:
- How much power I am drawing.
- How can I attach some of my new lights to the side of my house (Stucco).
And so it begins…
I have a couple of rules about my Christmas lights.
- Before I can bring my car out in the spring I must have all the Christmas lights taken down and put away.
- Before I can begin putting up my Christmas lights, my garage must be cleaned up with all the bikes and summer clutter put away and the car parked for the winter.
