Back to Sequencing

After spending a bit of time messing with my new hardware and starting to spend the weekends putting up lights, I need to get back to converting my sequences to my new layout.

When I first started building sequences in S4 last year it was taking me around 3 hours to program 1 minute of music, by the end of the Christmas season I had gotten this down to about 1 hr a min which enabled me to churn out a new song if I sat down for the night. When I build up my schedule to convert my sequences I had used the 1h:1m ratio. Using S5 and incorporating my LEDS I seems to have slipped back to the 3 hrs per 1 min of musical programming and I am not seeing the velocity increase like I did last year.

After a long break I got back at it, sequencing the theme to Christmas Vacation, after 2 nights I was 30 seconds from being complete but had to go to sleep. I woke up at 5am and decided I have an hour or so before the kids would wake to crank out those last 30 seconds. It took me almost 2 hours to finish the last 30 secs and clean up the blips and random light flickers that accidently get inserted or that were not removed from last years sequence.

I am really on the fence as to if it is faster for me to convert or start a fresh, of the sequences I have completed I have done about 1/2 and 1/2 upgrade vs rebuild. I’m now 1/2 way through my conversion process and 70% through my schedule. I’m really hoping I find velocity moving forward.
